Intellectual Self Defence

Brains are delicate things…

Data-Information-Knowledge-Wisdom

I’m still not sure whether these exist on a continuum. Maybe each one is ‘necessary but not sufficient’ for the next? I find it difficult to believe that someone could be wise without having had ‘experience’, made up of different events (data) on which they had reflected and tried to come up with patterns and generalised rules (algorithms).
Wisdom tends to be a particular brand of meta-pattern recognition, maybe?
Before you have data you have already made a decision about what counts as a datum, what your baselines are, what counts as a correct methodology.
