Access versus Influence

Campaigning groups and individuals often delude themselves that because they have access to Important Decision-makers, that this somehow translates into influence. Maybe, but not at all automatically! Sometimes they’re being used as a fig leaf – “well, we consulted broadly before making our decision etc”
