Latest versus Best versus Inevitable

These three terms get lumped together, which is usually beneficial to the con-men selling the latest (!) shiny tat that is no better- or indeed as good as- what it replaces. The fact that it exists disguises the fact that it just as easily might not have. But the human brain, a kludge if ever there were one, doesn’t handle hypotheticals very well….
